After some server problems, our beloved NinerNiner is back up and running! Hooray!!
So now…without further adieu…
It’s WEIRD WEDNESDAY!!!
What’s Weird Wednesday? Why, I’m glad you asked!
Weird Wednesday is the day when I look up some weird auctions on eBay and share them with y’all for fun.
Strap on your seat belts, here we go!
One of my personal favorites is this adorable ice cream cone hat. The ice cream hat is made out of a soft durable foam. It is made for adult-sized heads. This hat would be great to wear if you owned an ice cream shop, at a company picnic or child’s birthday party. It is a little bit pricey, starting at $19.95, but I haven’t ever seen anything else like it. The Seller also has quite a collection of Wisconsin cheese items, including cheesehead hats, ties, keychains, coasters and, uh, cheese bras.
Then there’s the fish head ashtray. The what?!? The Seller calls this item “One of a kind,” which indeed it is. It’s a plastic or some kind of material fish head with a big, gaping mouth. It kind of looks like someone cut the head off of a fish mounted on someone’s wall. It has freaky blue glass marbles for eyes. Bidding starts at $15.99 if you know someone who likes weird fish stuff.
On the cute side, there’s the flying pig Monopoly piece. Think of your standard Monopoly playing piece and that’s about the size of this little piggy, he just fits on a penny. The 3-D piggy is made of pewter. This Petite pigasus is the perfect collector’s item for Monopoly lovers and pig lovers alike. He has little wings and even a cute curly tail. These make great gifts for Harley riders/passengers, police officers, pig collectors, pilots or collectors of the unusual,” says the Seller. Bidding starts at $4.50 each.
This is really kind of neat: weaver bird nests from Kenya. “The African weavers all make densely woven and intricately knotted deep cup-like nests with a reinforced circular opening on one side,” writes the Seller. “The nests are just wide enough for a single adult bird to occupy, but deep enough to hold the hen and chicks.” The auction offers one weaver nest per bid. Starting at $5.99 this might be a neat gift for the bird-lover in your life. Or someone who likes items from Africa. Or somebody who just likes weird stuff.
Last but not least, it’s the bald head wig. I’m not sure how you can actually call it a “wig”, but it’s funny for a joke party for adults or kids. It’s also a good Halloween prop. I once went to a 50th birthday party where everyone who attended wore one of these to tease the birthday boy. Everyone got a big kick out of it!
That’s your Weird Wednesday report for May 4, 2005.
