Weird Wednesday: July 20, 2005

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it’s time once again for …

WEIRD WEDNESDAY

Where I look up some weird auctions on eBay and share them with y’all for fun.

I didn’t get any suggestions this week so I just found a bunch of goofy stuff. If you do have an idea for what you want to see on Weird Wednesday, email me at laurie.barak@gmail.com.

  • Do you live in Texas? Need some advertising? This Texas grandma will wear t-shirts advertising your business for 8 hours a day for one full year. The advertising has to be family-friendly, as grandma has 2 grandsons and a granddaughter on the way. She looks so sweet with her little Dachsund in her scooter basket!

  • Here’s a “Walk” sign, apparently from an airport. “This is one of the largest “Walk” signs made,” writes the Seller. The sign has been converted to a standard wall plug. Great gag gift or collectible for someone who likes cars or other traffic-related memorabelia.

  • Need a shoe model? Here’s a collection of vintage mannequin feet, the kind you see modeling hosiery, socks or shoes in department stores. Not sure where the Seller found these, but it’s kind of a funny auction.

  • Ah, the Bard. William Shakespeare. Writer of wonderful plays and poetry. Now you can have your own Bill – in the form of a plush doll. He comes dressed in leather pants and a vest, true to his time. This would make a fun gift for someone who enjoys theatre. The Seller has some other plush dolls including Leonardo DaVinci, George Washington Carver, Albert Einstein and Edgar Allen Poe. Too funny.

  • Do you have lots of remote controls? That’s dispicable! Here’s a cute Daffy Duck remote control holder. It fits over the arm of your favorite chair for easy access to “the clicker”. Super for cartoon fans!
