Source: The Detroit News

Thinking about having another bake sale to raise funds for your local charity? Think again – about cleaning out your garage.

Many charities are finding selling items on eBay can raise funds even more than the typical raffle ticket, car wash or cookie sale. Some auctions have included wheelchairs, toys and clothing. eBay even waives its listing fees for auctions whose proceeds are 100% donated to charity.

“The eBay marketplace has the ability to fundamentally change the way nonprofits are doing fund-raising. It bridges the way people want to give with the way that nonprofits want to receive,” said Sean Miliken, executive director of MissionFish, a Washington, DC-based organization that handles fund raising on eBay’s Giving Works site.
