Weird Wednesday: August 10, 2005

August 10th, 2005 by Laurie Barak

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it’s time once again for …

WEIRD WEDNESDAY

Where I look up some weird auctions on eBay and share them with y’all for fun.

This week we’re looking at some stuff that’s just plain weird! For example:

  • The Swiss cheese tie. This is really funny, it looks like a piece of Swiss cheese and even has a little mouse at the bottom (difficult to see in the picture but he’s there). Great gag gift for your buddy from Wisconsin, or fun to wear at Halloween or April Fool’s.

  • You asked for half a cup” and that’s exactly what you’ll get in this auction. It’s a half of a coffee mug. Literally. The mug appears to be a vintage 50s or 60s item. Cute for the coffee drinker.

  • I can’t decide whether this one is funny or sick. It’s kind of both, actually. It’s a roadkill skunk hot pad. A flattened skunk with his tongue sticking out a tire tracks across his back. It makes me want to laugh and gag at the same time!

  • Now this is really weird. It’s a necklace made from a piece of moose poo. Huh?!? “Now you know what those folks do during those long New England winters,” writes the Seller. “Go bonkers, that’s what, collecting moose droppings, drying them, coating them in polyurethane and then making them into necklaces!” The Seller assures that there is no smell from the amulets of dung. It kind of looks like a polished rock, though I think people would probably back away if you told them it was moose doodoo encased in plastic. Eeeeek!

  • Here’s something more for older kids or adults. It’s a set of “gross and weird” refrigerator magnets. “Over 350 magnets, including 12 blanks and a pencil”, writes the Seller. Some of the words include blob, squiggle, runny, slither, spew, swamp, decay, ooze and more. Funny yet gross!
