Weird Wednesday – August 17, 2005
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it’s time once again for …
WEIRD WEDNESDAY
Where I look up some weird auctions on eBay and share them with y’all for fun.
Now I know I’ve been promising a WW logo. It will be here next week! Hooray!
In the meantime, let’s get into the weird stuff! This week I’m doing weird stuff from a weird movie. The movie? Napoleon Dynamite. Weird? Yes. But also funny. There are so many characters in this movie I found myself saying, “That reminds me of so-and-so!” I thought it was dry, but also amusing. I know some folks don’t like it, but there are some great one-liners and such my husband and I still say to each other, like “Gosh!” or often used when driving, “Idiot!”
So here you go, some stuff from Napoleon Dynamite.
Here’s a Napoleon Dynamite 2006 calendar, with images from the movie. “Each month features an easy to read grid with holidays listed and room for writing appointments,” writes the Seller. I think it would be hilarious to have in my cubicle at work. I might even bid on this one!

An Andy Warhol-inspired Napoleon Dynamite poster. Not quite sure of the size as it’s not mentioned on the auction page. Features five images of Napoleon in different colors. “Sweet!”

At one point in the movie Napoleon calls home and talks to his brother, Kip. Napoleon asks Kip to bring him his balm, but Kip refuses and hangs up on him. “Idiot!” gripes Napoleon. Because his lips really hurt, and if your lips really hurt, here’s the lip balm Napoleon was looking for.

Scene: School bus heading down the road. School bus stops at Napoleon’s driveway. Napoleon gets on the bus, goes to the back and sits across from a young boy.
Boy: “What’re you gonna to do today, Napoleon?”
Napoleon: “Whatever I want to, gosh!”
Here’s a t-shirt with an angry-looking Napoleon saying GOSH! on it. Too funny!

If you’ve seen the movie, you know all about Tina, the llama. For some reason Napoleon and his family keep trying to feed her some kind of ham casserole. Last time I checked, llamas weren’t carnivores. Here’s a t-shirt that says “Tina, come get some ham” with a silhouette of a llama.

A great collector’s item for someone who loves the movie is this CD case featuring Napoleon. Great for back to school or a movie memorabelia buff (or a certain Blogger you know, ha ha).

Now THIS is a great movie memorabelia item. It’s a talking Napoleon Dynamite watch that was given out at some premieres of the movie. “It tells time AND says “Idiot!” at the push of a button,” writes the Seller. Fits both men and women. Classic!

So there you go, WW lovers, some weird stuff from a weird movie. Until next week…
That’s your Weird Wednesday report for August 17, 2005.
