Weird Wednesday: August 24, 2005
August 24th, 2005 by Laurie BarakLadies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it’s time once again for …

And yes! I now have my Weird Wednesday logo! Special thanks to my husband, Dave, for creating it for me. But it’s not 100% finished yet…stay tuned for updates!
What’s Weird Wednesday? Well, that’s where I look up some weird auctions on eBay and share them with y’all for fun.
Today we are taking a look at weird shoes. Why shoes? Can’t shoes be weird?
Penny from Little Rock loves shoes. She said she has over 100 pairs of shoes! Her friends call her Imelda Junior after Imelda Marcos (wife of former Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos), who owned over 2,000 pairs of shoes. So here’s to Penny and her shoes!
Have you ever wanted to be one of Santa’s helpers? Going to a Renaissance fair and don’t know what to wear? Want to play the Tooth Fairy for your kids? Here’s a pair of elf shoes. Yes, the kind with the curled-up toes. These are made of what appears to be blue satin. Very cute and funny for Halloween or a Renaissance festival.

There’s a saying that you’ll never know someone until you walk a mile in their shoes. Well now someone WILL walk in your shoes. Seller kg4ssp will walk a mile in your shoes - regardless of what kind, size or otherwise. “That’s right, I will walk one mile, everyday for a month in your shoes,” writes the Seller. “You may ask, “What if they don’t fit?” or “What if I send you high heels?” Well, that’s life. I will still walk a mile in your shoes for the month.” Quite an interesting, yet kinda weird, auction.
This pair of shoes will set you back to the 70s. It’s a pair of Italian platform shoes in a color called “Livestrong Yellow”. US size 7, made of suede and leather. These are really cute but I’m not sure if you could find an outfit to match. The color is pretty bright!
Yeah, baby, yeah!
On the complete opposite end of the spectrum from platforms, here is a pair of leather Roman soldiers’ sandals. They look handmade. Traditional leather sandal of Roman men with steel hobnails on the feet. Another great idea for Halloween or for those interested in the Society for Creative Anachronism.
“Centurions, throw him to the floor!”
Last but not least, here’s a very cute shoe brush holder shaped like a dog. It appears to be carved from wood. The dog’s red tongue is the shoe brush which you pull out from its mouth when you need it. Cute gift for a dog lover, or a shoe lover like Penny and her 100 pairs of shoes!
Bow wow wow yippee yo yippee yay!
Thank you, blog readers, for stopping by! That’s your Weird Wednesday report for August 24, 2005.
