Ebay No Longer Accepts Cash

April 5th, 2006 by Marsha James

If you have ever scrolled through some of Ebay’s auctions you would have seen a variety of payments being accepted. From credit cards to Paypal, checks and even cash. Ebay however has put a stop to that practice and is now removing auctions by sellers who accept cash.

Ebay says that many of these sellers are the ones who commit fraud and so this is just an extra step to protect buyers and honest sellers alike. The online auction company says that the U.S Postal Service has told them how unsafe it is to send cash in the mail. Although I think that’s something most people should know already.

This move has angered sellers, many of whom are Powersellers, the people who bring in some of the biggest business for Ebay. They say that this is just Ebay’s way of forcing them to use Paypal which is owned by Ebay. Although one of the first companies to offer such an easy way to accept and send money online, Paypal has also angered many people and all over the internet anti-paypal sites have popped up. Many seller’s refuse to use it and feel that they now have no choice with this latest move by Ebay.
