Ebay Email Fraud

May 22nd, 2006 by Marsha James

It looks like another wave of fraudulent Ebay emails is coming to an inbox near you. Recently I checked my email to see an letter from “Ebay” telling me that my account is connected to another Ebay account that has been closed.

This happened once before two years ago and I was able to prove that the Marsha they were looking for was not me. I thought guess I’ll have to go through everything again, but I tend to be suspicious of emails and after hovering my mouse over the link to see the address I realized this was a hoax email.

I went to my Ebay account, but NOT with the email link. My account was fine just like I thought. If I had not been suspicious all my info would have gone to some scammer. The scary part is that it caught my attention easily because it wasn’t just the regular scam emails that says dear Ebay user. This one had my actual Ebay account name. Just be careful and check your emails carefully. If your not sure go to the website without using the link provided in the email or try to call and speak with someone.
