Paypal Outrage Still Growing
June 14th, 2006 by Marsha JamesAlthough Paypal has been around for years I’m still surprised at how many people hate it. Although it intergrates well with Ebay, which is one of the biggest reasons they bought it, unfortunately for them they also bought a bad reputation.
For years people have been furious with Paypal and it has even caused some people to fail in their work at home business.
It had some nasty practices. You would put money into it like your supposed to. However it seems like when many individuals started selling on Ebay or other businesses and their bank balance reached a certain amount Paypal would freeze their account, effectively locking them out of their own money. There has been a ton of lawsuits that are still going on today because of such things.
Some believe that Paypal did not want you to withdraw your money because even though they claimed to not be a bank, they were recieving a lot of money from the interests of your money. And by not being a bank they were able to pull all sorts of strings legally that a bank would never be able too.
I myself was afraid to have anything over $100 in paypal and would quickly spend or withdraw my money before they could freeze it because of “strange activities on the account”. Strange activities being whatever they say it is.
I have started using it again this year and haven’t had any problems and I do believe that the online payment system has gotten much better under Ebay’s rule. Some people however will never be convinced to use Paypal again, especially if it still has hundreds of $$ frozen for them.
Even today I still go and read some of the infamous “Paypal horror stories” and shake my head at the amount of problems some people has had with the system all the while praying it never happens to me. Here are some sights to read up more about the problems you can run into:
