eBay and Skype
July 26th, 2007 by Lynn LittleSkype users can now allow potential buyers to contact them about their auctions instead of going through the normal contact methods. While it’s not available for all auctions yet, this faster form of communication can mean that last minute bidders with questions might have an answer before the final seconds have ticked away.
Skype is a service that allows any users of Skype to call each other for free through the computer. Skype users can message one another or talk through the computer like you would on a phone. You can incorporate video into the call if you have a web camera, too.
If a buyer enables Skype in their listing, then the potential buyer can directly ask the seller a question, getting his question answered faster than ever. With Skype on eBay, you can set the times that you are available. It can be a great way for sellers to really get to know their buyers and to make online auctions more personable.
It is free to download Skype and to sign up for an account. For more information, check out all the details on ebay’s Skype page.
