Giving Buyers a Reason to Purchase Your eBay Products

December 22nd, 2007 by Joyce Priddy

In your eBay auction descriptions you should give the buyer a reason to buy your eBay products.  Now the focus shouldn’t be on money and to get their sale.  The purpose is to hook them into realizing that with a reason to use the product they made the right decision before they every logged in that they really do need a particular item.

You can suggest gift occasions that the item can be used for.  Most items can be used year round for birthdays, anniversaries, house-warming, bridal showers and wedding gifts.  If there is a specific holiday around the corner such as Valentine’s day you can add that to the list of gift possibilities.  You can suggest that the item is perfect for people that collect a specific type of item.  For example you can sell angel figurines and suggest that it is a perfect bridal shower gift for the bride that collects angels.

You can also suggest that the item is so great and wonderful that they will be tempted to keep it for themselves.  When you do this provide a place for them or a use for them for the item.  In the example of the angel figurine you can suggest it be displayed on a bedside table or dresser.  If it is a functional item you can suggest that they’ll spend hours using the new blender in the kitchen

Creating a need for the product and place to put it in the home are key elements to your eBay auction description.  This takes the focus back to why they should buy from you instead to the ways that they can benefit from purchasing the product from you.  You’ll notice an increase in sales just changing this one aspect of your eBay auction description.
