Effective Title Searches on eBay
February 11th, 2008 by Joyce PriddyEffective title searches on eBay are the primary way that your customers will find your auction listing. It is important to take the time to sit down and really think about your titles. The majority of bidders on eBay only use the title search and not the other searches. You are only given 45 characters for your title, so make it effective and good.
Do not waste title space with special characters that make it look pretty or you think will draw attention to the title. Use all 45 characters to the maximum potential to make certain that your auction will be found when customers do a title search.
Spell your item correctly. Include NIB and BN in the title only if there is room. When possible spell the keyword incorrectly but with the common misspelling in mind. For example if you have a Rooster Vintage Clock you could use the title: Rooster Vintage Clock BIN ventage clok. This might look weird but it will increase your chances of being found out of all the auctions for those that are spelling challenged when typing in their searches.
For items that are $25 or more use the sub-title feature. In this you can include additional information to attract people’s attention to click on the auction. For example for the vintage clock the subtitle could be : Retail value $55 BIN Free shipping
