The about me page is one of the most important areas of your eBay auctions that you should take advantage of. The about me page is a free eBay resource that you can use instantly. It is simple to do if you use the templates that eBay provides for this.

The about me page gives buyers confidence. They can relate to you as a seller and as a person. Include information about yourself that will help to gain the confidence of buyers and you will notice a significant increase in the number of bids that you receive on your products.

Another important part of the about me page is to include your latest feedback. This will show buyers in one spot your great rating and great customer service. They won’t have to go and look for your feedback. It will automatically be there for them to review.

Take advantage of the about me page on eBay to boost your sales. It’s a free eBay resource for you.

Skype is an Internet phone service. You will need the Skype software installed; a microphone; sound card and headset or speakers. You can talk to anyone that is on Skype for free. This means that you can post your Skype ID in your auctions for potential buyers to ask you questions. Part of the buying process on eBay is confidence. Using Skype to help build customer confidence will naturally result in higher auction sales.

You can also use the Skype to post on your eBay stores. This too will enable customers to talk to you directly. Your true phone number and identity will still be protected. Yet, you will have a virtual office phone to handle customers directly.

One trick to keep in mind though is to stay logged into Skype when you are available for phone calls. Customers can leave a message but it is always nicer to talk to someone in person the first time that you call.

Many times buyers can get confused about the terms for shipping, handling and returns. Although the majority of your auction listing should be based on the sales pitch, the bottom part should be your terms. Make certain that your terms are very clear in your auctions. Some people don’t like to list all this information. However, you can lose customers that way.

Customers like to know the fine print. They don’t want to hunt for it. Having it clearly listed at the bottom of your auction will enable you to provide the information in a clear and concise method. Use the top part of the auction to sell your product and the bottom part of the auction to gain your customer’s trust and finalize your deal.

One of the best tips that I have for powersellers on EBay is to look at the items that others are selling. For example, if you are selling an elephant collectible miniature, do a search on this title. Look at all the listings and sort them from least expensive to most expensive.

Once you have found the listings, disregard any listings that do not have bids. Remember, that any item is only worth what others are willing to pay for it. If it has not bids then either it wasn’t a price that people were willing to pay or the auction itself did not draw the attention of bidders.

Carefully go through the auctions that have bids. Look at how the sellers posted the item. The types of pictures that they took is also helpful. Look at the shipping and handling fees as well as the seller’s policies.

Learn from the other auctions how to best present your item to attract bidders. Also, look at the the standard policies of other sellers. You can use their success to teach you in ways that no book can.

If you look through the list of auctions that have bids, the majority of powersellers do not use the technique of reserve auction prices. There is a reason for this. The response rate and the actual reserve price being met are not as high as other auction formats and thus powersellers have learned this already or gone through this the hard way.

Some sellers put a reserve auction price and a buy-it-now price. This completely confuses bidders and many will shy away from these auctions because they are confused. Other bidders shy away from reserve auctions because they figure that they will not get a decent deal in the process and are not willing to even make an attempt at bidding on the item.

Your best bet is to research your item and set a fair starting bid price. If you use the buy-it-now feature, perhaps set it slightly higher than what you hope to get on bids to encourage a bidding process to start. This will save you headaches and increase your power of selling on eBay.

Effective title searches on eBay are the primary way that your customers will find your auction listing. It is important to take the time to sit down and really think about your titles. The majority of bidders on eBay only use the title search and not the other searches. You are only given 45 characters for your title, so make it effective and good.

Do not waste title space with special characters that make it look pretty or you think will draw attention to the title. Use all 45 characters to the maximum potential to make certain that your auction will be found when customers do a title search.

Spell your item correctly. Include NIB and BN in the title only if there is room. When possible spell the keyword incorrectly but with the common misspelling in mind. For example if you have a Rooster Vintage Clock you could use the title: Rooster Vintage Clock BIN ventage clok. This might look weird but it will increase your chances of being found out of all the auctions for those that are spelling challenged when typing in their searches.

For items that are $25 or more use the sub-title feature. In this you can include additional information to attract people’s attention to click on the auction. For example for the vintage clock the subtitle could be : Retail value $55 BIN Free shipping

In your eBay auction descriptions you should give the buyer a reason to buy your eBay products. Now the focus shouldn’t be on money and to get their sale. The purpose is to hook them into realizing that with a reason to use the product they made the right decision before they every logged in that they really do need a particular item.

You can suggest gift occasions that the item can be used for. Most items can be used year round for birthdays, anniversaries, house-warming, bridal showers and wedding gifts. If there is a specific holiday around the corner such as Valentine’s day you can add that to the list of gift possibilities. You can suggest that the item is perfect for people that collect a specific type of item. For example you can sell angel figurines and suggest that it is a perfect bridal shower gift for the bride that collects angels.

You can also suggest that the item is so great and wonderful that they will be tempted to keep it for themselves. When you do this provide a place for them or a use for them for the item. In the example of the angel figurine you can suggest it be displayed on a bedside table or dresser. If it is a functional item you can suggest that they’ll spend hours using the new blender in the kitchen

Creating a need for the product and place to put it in the home are key elements to your eBay auction description. This takes the focus back to why they should buy from you instead to the ways that they can benefit from purchasing the product from you. You’ll notice an increase in sales just changing this one aspect of your eBay auction description.

Do you know that many people will leave an auction description in a matter of seconds if they are not hooked from the very beginning? This in turn means a loss of potential sales and potential repeat customers for your eBay business. The way your auction description looks will determine if the visitor remains on your listing or they quickly move to another auction description.

It is important to really work on the first few sentences of your auction descriptions. You might initially think that this is a waste of time but it really isn’t. After all the success of your auctions means money in your pocket and you should not overlook the beginning hook.

Another thing to do is add colors, pictures and make the auction description area pretty and eye appealing. A plain black and white auction description is going to send buyers to other auctions. They already know that they want you product or they wouldn’t have done a search for it. Use the hook to convince they want to buy the product from you.
