I am so thankful that there’s Paypal as a form of payment through internet. It is so convenient for buying online. Nowadays, people are so busy and the convenience of buying things through website is an advantage. But the eligibility of the seller and the payment is questionable. Scammers are everywhere. So be careful in buying online. Good thing that paypal checks the credibility and eligibility before a member is being verified. If they violate the terms and agreement, they will ban them. Through this form of payment, we feel secure. Most of the online store uses paypal for payment of their buyers.

I have been using Paypal for several years .But now it is changing its policies and become very expensive. It seems Paypal is not bothered about the business and become more money minded.

I had some vouches which I had no intension of using so I thought to sell them on eBay. I sold $10 vouchers (less than their original value) and pay eBay for listing and selling But Paypal charged fees for money received in my account. That made the me cost a lot. The $10 voucher returned me hardly $5 oho.

Paypal should provide facility for using eBay and helping their business grow but instead people got to pay and I find it unfair deal. For any thing which is used and sold for any price is different thing but for brand new untouched thing. Pay pal should not charge fees for selling its partner site (eBay). Paypal already getting business by getting members and in other words members are paying penalty. May be Paypal look at his seller members as business partners that’s why charge fee.

I can say that I’m very up to date on internet scams and try my best to always be on alert. I get lots of Paypal and Ebay emails claiming to be official but I know from the beginning it’s not when they start with Hello Paypal/Ebay User. If they don’t even know your username I doubt it’s an official email. So I certainly wouldn’t click anything in there. Even when I get one that’s official I physically type in the address to get to the site.

Now everything has sort of been flipped. I see many still being wary but this new phishing scam will certainly net a lot more people than usual. You receive an email claiming to be from Paypal. They don’t want you to go to a link and give up info. They want you to be extra secure. Instead go to this phone number and then update your info.

While many would roll their eyes and say definite scam, be aware that this can trick newbies to pros who let their guard down. A real beginner to Ebay and Paypal are definitely more likely to fall for it, especially if they are unaware that these companies don’t practice that sort of service.

Paypal quickly had the number disconnected but it is sadly very easy to get your hands on a local phone number that isn’t connected to any address.

Days after Google opened up their new checkout system that will probably be 100% better than Paypal, Ebay has banned it. They have of course managed to upset users who are not and have not been pleased with Ebay for some time.

Before they banned them, they slowly but surely removed auctions by sellers who even mentioned Google, and then claimed that it was html or script problems. Convenient excuse when a few have been using the same auction type for more than a year.

I’m sure there are ways around this, but it’s a pain in the neck.

However some losers with too much time on their hands and lots of tech skills they refuse to use at a real job has wormed their way into flaws in Paypal’s website. It looks like the real deal, but after you login and give it whatever info they asked for, your information is sent to the scammer and you lose.

Just remember to NEVER click the links in your email and have the latest antivirus and antispyware on your computer.

Although Paypal has been around for years I’m still surprised at how many people hate it. Although it intergrates well with Ebay, which is one of the biggest reasons they bought it, unfortunately for them they also bought a bad reputation.

For years people have been furious with Paypal and it has even caused some people to fail in their work at home business.

It had some nasty practices. You would put money into it like your supposed to. However it seems like when many individuals started selling on Ebay or other businesses and their bank balance reached a certain amount Paypal would freeze their account, effectively locking them out of their own money. There has been a ton of lawsuits that are still going on today because of such things.

Some believe that Paypal did not want you to withdraw your money because even though they claimed to not be a bank, they were recieving a lot of money from the interests of your money. And by not being a bank they were able to pull all sorts of strings legally that a bank would never be able too.

I myself was afraid to have anything over $100 in paypal and would quickly spend or withdraw my money before they could freeze it because of “strange activities on the account”. Strange activities being whatever they say it is.

I have started using it again this year and haven’t had any problems and I do believe that the online payment system has gotten much better under Ebay’s rule. Some people however will never be convinced to use Paypal again, especially if it still has hundreds of $$ frozen for them.

Even today I still go and read some of the infamous “Paypal horror stories” and shake my head at the amount of problems some people has had with the system all the while praying it never happens to me. Here are some sights to read up more about the problems you can run into:

Google Base, Google’s online classified site, is allowing a limited number of seelers to accet payments through Google.

For Seller accounts that have balances more than 180 days overdue, eBay may collect the overdue balance owed from that seller’s PayPal account. The vast majority of our sellers settle their balances on time or before 180 days. eBay will resort to a PayPal withdrawal only after the balance has been overdue 180 days and our other collection efforts have been unsuccessful. We believe this helps level the playing field for the rest of the sellers who pay their bills.

PayPal has announced that merchants who accept PayPal can now offer online gift certificates to their customers. Just in time for the holiday shopping season, PayPal enables online businesses of all sizes to set up customized gift certificates, offering their customers more choice when shopping for family and friends.

Merchants pay no startup costs or extra fees when offering gift certificates, which can be customized to match the look and feel of merchant Web sites and to meet specific business needs. Merchants in the US, UK, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland can offer gift certificates in the six different currencies that PayPal offers – US Dollars, Pounds Sterling, Canadian Dollars, Australian Dollars, Euros and Japanese Yen.

“More and more businesses depend on gift certificates to boost sales as consumers increasingly opt to give certificates or gift cards in lieu of traditional gifts,” said Stephanie Tilenius, vice president of merchant services for PayPal. “By enabling our merchants to offer gift certificates for their online stores, PayPal can also help these merchants attract new buyers from around the world by marketing to PayPal’s base of more than 86 million accounts.”

To set up a gift certificate program, businesses simply add a “Buy a Gift Certificate” button to their Web sites. PayPal offers account management tools to help merchants access, download and print reports for gift certificate purchases and redemptions. Merchants can decide the denomination options that a customer can select, and proceeds from the sale of gift certificates will be moved into the merchant’s available balance at the time of redemption.

Dell now accepts PayPal payments from U.S. consumer and small business customers, adding to the company’s many forms of payment options in advance of “Black Friday,” the traditional start of the holiday shopping season.

Tens of millions of online shoppers looking for notebook computers, televisions or music players can pay for Dell purchases with their PayPal accounts – using a credit card, bank account or stored account balance. “PayPal gives consumers and small business owners more choice and convenience when doing business with Dell,” said Tom West, director of Dell home and small business marketing. “In addition to Dell financing and other forms of payment, we welcome the millions of loyal, tech-savvy PayPal users.”

There are more than 86.6 million PayPal accounts, with users transacting more than $6.7 billion in the third quarter of this year. “Given the popularity of PayPal, we expect the new payment option to be a hit with current customers and serve as a tool to attract new shoppers to Dell.com,” West added.

“PayPal users are savvy online shoppers who consistently look to companies like Dell for the latest in computer and electronics systems,” said Todd Pearson, senior director of merchant services for PayPal. “Our customers prefer to use PayPal because of the safety and convenience it offers. Now these customers can use PayPal to shop on one of the leading e-commerce sites in the world.”
